Scene:
Unknown.
An eerie silence floods the room. Darkness and
disparity linger as shadows cast by the moon slither before her.
She looks around the room, her palms sweaty as she trembles.
Contemplating the devastation that lies before her, desperation consumes
her as she tries to scream.
Nothing. The air is calm and
silent.
She tries once more, but her ability to produce any sound
is far out of her reach. She squints her eyes and tries to focus on the
scene outside, but heavy smoke fills the air before her.
Flames
light up the sky in the distance as she slowly backs away from the door.
She jumps when she stumbles upon an object on the ground.
She
knows she shouldn't look to see what lies below her, but curiosity fills
her mind.
She then gasps in horror and quickly covers her mouth at
the sight of Rick Preston's lifeless body. Blood trickles slowly down the
face of her husband as she tries once more to scream for
help.
Suddenly Kayla
awakens, breathing heavily and entirely
confused. She turns her head in all directions, but nothing is
familiar.
She reaches down to her left arm and notices several
I.V.s. She realizes she is in a hospital, but any recollection of how she
got to such a place is absent from her mind.
Kayla then
glances towards her stomach and freezes. She moves her hand gently to feel
the beating of the child she is carrying, but she feels nothing.
A
part of her is gone.
She screams uncontrollably until an orderly
rushes inside the room.
"Haylie! Where is my baby?! Oh
God..."
Tears quickly stream down her horrified face as she
realizes she is no longer carrying her child.

Scene:
San Francisco General Hospital.
Due to the extensive
damage to the hospital in Pac Heights, many of the town's citizens were
rushed to nearby San Francisco General in the wake of such
devastation. While the halls of SF General flooded with screams and
confusion by many, there was one young man in particular who tried his
best to remain calm.
Jason Summers , after all, was more than lucky
to have come out of such a predicament alive. Clinging for dear life while
on the cafe' deck, he tried his best never to look down at the cruel waves
that were crashing below him. Mere moments seemed like an eternity,
but such an experience was definitely enough to convince the most cynical
soul that life was truly precious.
He suddenly peers down the hall
and recognizes a woman burying her face into a wall with grief. Her fiery
red hair is instantly distinguishable in the crowded hall as Jason grows
closer.
"Dr. Michaels? Star?" Jason calls out, quickly throwing out
the formality.
Star Michaels slowly turns around and locks eyes
with his instantaneously.
"Thank God you're okay! I just heard
from my parents, they seem to be fine as well and should be here any
moment. Where were you when it hit?" Jason begins to ramble as his words
spill out faster. "Where is Keith? Have you heard from him?"
Star
looks back at Jason with grief in her eyes and a heart cracked in two.
Could she possibly have the courage to mutter the words aloud? Could she
look into Jason's eyes and tell him that his first love was forever
gone?
