Welcome... Just outside the hustle and bustle of the City, there lies a community where relationships deepen through self-discovery and reflection. Join those in the search for honesty, focus and love as they must take a hard look within and realize what truly lies around them |
Explore A Brief History of Pacifica Heights "A town built upon trust and perseverance; focusing on family and pride in the community" These were the words spoken by Hugh Landon in 1896 at the town's inception speech. The Great-Grandfather of Emily Landon, Pacifica Heights "Founding Father" was perceived to be everything he was not. Seen as a saint who donated much of his fortune to charity and rebuilding efforts after the great quake of 1906, Hugh Landon was a quite different character behind closed doors. Ostentatious and often spiteful, Landon made most of his fortune by the downfall of those around him. Murder and stealing were just a few of the accusations that were later thrown his way after the diary entries of his daughter, Mary Landon, were found many years after his death. Another name would soon be associated with power in the early twentieth century which would also cause animosity with the Landons. This name being that of the Preston line, led by family patriarch and former Senator, Samuel Preston. The Grandfather of Jonathan, and Great-Grandfather to Rick and Valerie, Samuel would begin a feud with the Landon family that still harbors to this day. Fortunately for the Landons, they held most of their fortune in the Publishing industry and managed to take ownership of all of the local papers. In doing such, bad publicity to the Landon name would be rare, if ever- only whispered by the elite who knew the dark secrets all too well. After the great fire in nearby San Francisco ravaged most of the city in 1906, many affluent residents opted to build their Mansions on the serene hills of Pacifica Heights' coastline. Located just 26 miles south of San Francisco, the town was an ideal place for many who were tired of the hustle and extreme dense population of The City. The population surpassed 10,000 by 1910 and continued to grow. The original Historic District (Map coming soon), lies at the crossroads of Main Street at Central Avenue (Which turns into University Blvd., North) The streets that paved horizontally were alphabetized below Main Street (A STREET thru J STREET), and were names of various trees north of Main Street (MAPLE, ELM, BIRCH, etc). The streets paved vertically west of Central Avenue were numbered streets, ending at 10th STREET, respectively; those paved to the east of Central Avenue were the names of various Presidents. The mansions that were built would lie upon PACIFICA BOULEVARD, the main thoroughfare that lied along the coast, just west of the Historic District. The Boulevard, which boasted to have some of the finest dining and boutiques outside of The City, paved the way for a posh tourist destination with its breathtaking views of the Coastline. More of the larger Mansions, including the ones built by the Landon and Preston families, would lie at the top of the hill where the Boulevard ended (2600 Block, North). The area at the top of the Hill would be coined the "Northern Heights" and boasted the most lavish boutiques and Cafes in the City. The 1930s saw rise to a new university, aptly named, The University of Pacifica. This private University would later grow to extreme proportions, lying between MAIN STREET and BEACH STREET, alongside UNIVERSITY BLVD. With its growing popularity and attraction to renowned professors, the community would see a boom in population, nearly tripling the size to 30,000 in the 1950s. The town began to expand conservatively to the east until it hit the Coastal Highway. Presently, the population of Pacifica Heights stands at 52,600 as of the January 2009 Census. The City now has 4 main exits along the Highway and still draws thousands of tourists each season. Of course, what many of these naive tourists will never know, is the fact that the community still lies in fear that many of the dark secrets of the past will someday see light. While a large portion of the Economy is relied upon tourist revenue, one of the largest employers of the Community is still Landon Points Publishing...A company still owned by Landon Blood- and a woman that watches things very closely to ensure the Family name will never be tarnished. |
