Season Two Summary Season two, which included twenty-three original episodes, is currently being formatted with the new design scheme. The season ran from December, 2007, until the finale on July 31, 2008. Diane/ Steve/ Emily
Season Two commenced with an explosive revelation that Diane had been lying to her loved ones for nearly three decades- and the lie would come in the form of Ashley Davison. Desperate to put a final nail in the coffin for Diane and Steve's downward spiral of a marriage, Emily’s latest scheme took everything out of her. Upon discovering Diane's Mother, Helen, was residing in South Beach, Florida, Emily dug a bit deeper and learned that Helen had raised a woman now nearing her thirties. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Ashley was actually the product of a young Diane Davison and an unknown man. Fearing that her prospects for College would be destroyed, Helen offered to raise the child as her own while Diane would move to the west coast and attend U.C. Berkeley. Of course, there was only one stipulation- Diane could never have contact with the child and Ashley could never learn of the connection between the two. Finding Helen at a stage in her life which left her desperate for money, Emily bribed her to return to Pacifica Heights– offering her 50,000 in cash if she would return with Ashley. Although Helen was hesitant to sell out her own daughter at first, she was blinded by the almighty dollar and agreed. Unaware of the true reason for the trip, Ashley agreed to embark to the West Coast with Helen. With her plan in perfect action, Emily arranged for a place that all would meet– including Steve, Diane, Helen and Ashley. Emily would soon expose herself as the puppeteer when she showed up at the impromptu arrangement and revealed to both Steve and Ashley the entire story. Desperate and pleading to Steve for forgiveness for not telling him sooner about her past, Steve stormed out of the room and told her that they would talk about things at a later time. Next was Ashley's turn, who obviously was quite hurt and confused over the entire matter. Lied to by Helen that her real mother had died– and abandoned by Diane at birth, Ashley's world came to a crashing end when she realized that everything she had ever known in life about her identity was a lie. In the months that followed, a desperate Diane would try to reconcile with her husband- but could Steve truly trust a word that came out of her mouth? After all, he felt that her entire past was all a lie now. Steve would seek comfort from Emily who tried portraying herself as a martyr in the entire situation. She even offered Steve a place to stay at the Landon Manor seeing that he felt so uncomfortable to be under the same roof with Diane. Diane would soon resort back to the bottle for comfort– realizing that everyone close to her in life was turning their backs on her. The only saving grace was her relationship with her son Jason which had deepened– although he was going through many trials in his own life and thus couldn't be the support that she truly needed. Emily would soon grasp her claws around Steve once again when she convinced him that the only viable option at this point was to seek divorce. Just when Diane started reacquainting herself with Ashley and the two seemed to be on a road to build a relationship, she was handed divorce papers by Steve. The following months would prove to be complete Hell as Diane and Steve would engage in nasty altercations and the family divided itself down the middle– with Jason siding more so with his Mother Diane and Kimberly, as always, taking sides with Steve. The main prize would incidentally be the ownership of the Summers Estate- a home that Steve had bought himself over twenty-five years prior, and the same home that Diane raised their two children in. A plethora of emotions would arise as both Steve and Diane realized that they could lose the very home that they had created so many memories in. When the Judge reigned down with his decision, a devastated Diane was told that Steve would maintain full possession of the Estate. While Steve maintained that he wouldn’t have Diane on the streets immediately- she feared that her mother, Helen, and daughter, Ashley, would have no where to reside along with her. Diane quickly took matters into her own hands and convinced Helen and Ashley to purchase a new home with her. The three would soon find a sparkling gem along Pacifica Boulevard, and with her large settlement, Diane was able to put a large amount down on their new home. The three vowed that their luck would soon turn around as they embarked on a new journey together to regain their independence and solidify their relationships. Meanwhile, Steve revealed to a surprised Kimberly that he would be giving her complete control over the estate. After being manipulated at the hands of Emily to move in with her, Steve realized that their was no sense in returning to the home- indeed, he realized the home held too many memories for him that were too painful to deal with. Just as Kimberly assumed responsibility of the home, a devastating earthquake ravaged the community. By the end of the season, it was still unknown the full effects that the quake had upon the house.
Kayla/Rick/Liz/
At the start of season two, Liz Bryant had just returned to Pacifica Heights to pursue a career as a Divorce Attorney in the San Francisco Bay Area. Having met Rick Preston in law school years prior, she thought Pacifica Heights to be the perfect place to settle down and rekindle their friendship. During this time, Kayla had just learned that she was pregnant with Rick's child and they soon made plans to marry and make a new home for their family. While Liz was glad she had the opportunity to rekindle her friendship with Rick, she soon realized that Kayla was showing signs of extreme jealousy. While Rick took her behavior to simply be emotions that derived from her pregnancy, Liz was convinced that Kayla's unstable behavior was more than such. Meanwhile, Liz would take her first major case in Pac Heights as she represented millionaire Felicia Bordeaux in her third nasty divorce. Seeing that perhaps she might not get all that she wanted, Felicia conjured up a plan to sweep Liz off her feet (hopefully propelling her to be more aggressive in the case). The main tool she would use would turn out to be her son, Terrence. Felicia soon introduced her son to Liz and the two seemed to enjoy each other’s company. However, Liz was at a point in her life where a relationship- or fun for that matter– was the last thing on her mind. Terrence would prove to be more of a distractions- and at times an annoyance. Felicia's plan seemed to backfire and Liz certainly didn't prove to be more aggressive in the case. Furious that she didn’t acquire the property she deemed fitting, Felicia threw herself into a rage and even went so far as to forbid Terrence from seeing Liz. This command would create quite a wedge in the relationship between Terrence and his mother. It seemed as if Terrence was now more determined than ever to win the affections of Liz. In the midst of Terrence trying to win Liz' heart, she seemed to be conflicted for another reason– this being her growing attraction to Rick. While she new conventional reason told her that he was completely off limits, she couldn't fight her feelings for him. He seemed to be everything that she had wanted in a man and the fact that they had a solid foundation as friends proved to be even more alluring for Liz. One night after Rick and Kayla got into quite an argument, Liz was there to console Rick and they spoke about his relationship and other problems that seemed to be mounting in their lives. In the midst of conversation, Rick leaned in and kissed Liz- she certainly didn’t hold back and the kiss lasted for several moments. Rick would instantly apologize and left in quite a hurry. While both realized they couldn't take their friendship any further with everything that was presently in the picture, they chose silence as the answer and seemed to ignore the kiss for some time. Meanwhile, they would both think about each other often throughout the day. Liz and Rick soon went off with their lives as they both tackled a high-profile divorce in the community. Unbeknownst to one another, Rick would be representing Diane Summers– and Liz would incidentally be representing the other party, Steve. When they first realized that they were representing opposing sides, they tried their hardest not to let their emotions get the best of them as they knew they would have to each show their respective aggressive sides towards one another. The battle would prove to be both lengthy and nasty as Rick and Liz had to pull out everything they had to represent their clients’ best interests. Liz would eventually win the case as Steve assumed full possession of the home in the divorce. Shortly thereafter, Liz and Rick would eventually sit down one-on-one as they discussed both the divorce and their prior kiss. While they both contemplated what could have been, reality forced them to realize that Rick was soon expecting a child with Kayla and Liz was now dating the likes of Terrence. They would both have to go on with their respective lives and rebuild their friendship with one another.
JASON/KEITH When season two commenced, Keith had finally come out of the closet and Jason had mended his relationships with family members– even his sister Kimberly- after his coming out the previous year. The two were seemingly entering into what could be perceived as a healthy relationship. However, Keith's evasive behavior and Jason's insecurities would soon take center stage and help crumble the foundation of any relationship that the men were working on. Midway through the season, everything seemed to be following apart as both men could barely produce a productive conversation with one another. Keith would continue pulling away, revealing less to Jason about his life each time that Jason showed signs of his growing insecurity and jealousy. The two would soon choose to part ways in a break-up that secretly devastated each. While Keith buried himself in his work at the restaurant, Jason chose to resort to his poetry and his passion for schooling as a means to put his hurt into something productive. After months of no contact, Jason finally realized that he couldn't be apart from his first love. While perhaps a relationship was not best for each of them at this point, he realized that he had experienced more with Keith (and vice-versa) than with anyone else in his life. At the very least, they would have to attempt to start at the beginning– building a solid friendship. Perhaps a solid friendship was the pivotal thing they had been lacking before jumping into a relationship. By the close of the season, they were once again spending quite a bit of time with each other, starting from basics and building a new friendship.
THE GREAT QUAKE OF '08 The second season ended with a three-part mini-series entitled "Earth-shattering". The action, which encompassed all three episodes, certainly should not be missed by fans of the series. Presently, all season two episodes are being formatted with the new design scheme. However, readers can still access all three of the final season two episodes by clicking here to reach the season two site.
